Chelsea Lucas joined Katy Responds in December of 2018. Chelsea worked alongside Tom Pretti as Office Manager and wore all the hats for over 9 months until funding allowed for others to lighten the load. She came to Texas as a manager with Trader Joe’s from California. God pulled on her savvy business heart to use her talents to help organize the high demands flowing between office and fieldwork. Chelsea has two amazingly precious and precocious daughters and is very active in her small group.
Curtis Wilkins joined the Katy Responds team in July of 2019; having a career steadily consisting of maintenance work and non-profit organizations, this was the perfect union. Curtis is one of our Field Operations Supervisors and his motto for life is “Love your neighbor as yourself.” He lives these words daily through his interactions with our volunteers, contractors and homeowners. Curtis has been with his wife Stacie-Marie since 2004 and together, they have four children. Originally from California, if Curtis is not working on a site, you can find him introducing the rest of the Katy Responds staff to In-N-Out.
Ron Peters is the Director of Field Operations for Katy Responds. He is originally from Michigan but moved to Texas in 1990. Ron is happily married to his better half, Jody and between them they are blessed with five children and six grandchildren. They currently make their home on the southside of Katy in North Richmond. Jody and Ron own/operate their rental venue Three Strands Place where they do marriage ministry events. Prior to taking this role with Katy Responds Ron was an independent contractor as well as a sales director for an industrial supply company.
Tom Pretti, Jr. has been involved in Hurricane Harvey’s relief effort from day one! Starting with neighbors, friends, even strangers that he could reach in the high waters who were directly impacted.
Tom’s background includes a heart to serve those knocked down by life, roles on several non-profit boards, working in the construction business, as well as 17 years in business and tax consulting. These experiences aligned superbly enabling Tom to successfully lead local relief, muck-out, and restoration efforts through Grace Fellowship UMC for eight months following Harvey. However, the long-term vision was realized and Tom helped to co-found Katy Responds.
Tom has a patient, angelic wife of 18 years and been blessed with three high energy sons. Their family has lived in the Katy area 11 years and are members of Grace Fellowship UMC.
Wendell Menard joined Katy Responds first as a volunteer back in October of 2018. He retired from Conoco after 34 years as a Petroleum engineer. Hurricane Harvey left a number of his friends and church member’s homes flooded. His church, Grace Fellowship, helped in the initial work of mucking out flooded houses. God continued to weave his plans for Wendell after Tom Pretti worked with Wendell on a couple of projects and pulled him out of retirement to join the newly formed Katy Responds. Wendell has been happily married to his bride, Donna, of 37 years. They have three grown boys and Wendell continues to stay busy as a recent graduate from Dallas Theological Seminary – Houston.
Hannah Lau is the Client and Volunteer Services Coordinator for Katy Responds. She joined Katy Responds in June 2019 through the AmeriCorps program. She is a recent graduate of the University of Texas (hook em horns) at San Antonio with a degree in History. Growing up, working for a mission had always been important to her family. Hannah has found great joy in helping the people of Katy through Katy Responds’ mission. She is excited to see where God will lead her in the future.
Vanessa Palmer recently joined Katy Responds as the Construction and Logistics Coordinator through AmeriCorps. Originally from Katy, Vanessa attended high school here before leaving for college. Working in the world of insurance for over two years gave Vanessa great tools to use for logistics. God called her back to Texas to serve in my community. When Vanessa is not working with our vendors, she is busy playing with her son!

Brianne Hill joined Katy Responds as the Communication Coordinator. Graduating with a degree in Broadcasting, Brianne worked as a morning DJ for 3 years. She gave up the corporate world to become a domestic engineer and raise four spectacular children. Brianne’s Texas roots are deep but she is a Colorado native and still hopes for snow every winter. She attends Holy Covenant and helped with supplies when Hurricane Harvey impacted Katy. God continued to bring Katy Responds to mind and knowing that there were still families displaced, Brianne couldn’t look the other way.
